Audio Quality
The JBL GO Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with a 40 mm driver delivers a total of 3 Watts of audio output. It does not include a separate subwoofer, but its frequency response of 180Hz-20Khz covers the range of the audible fields of bass, treble, and vocals. There is no chest-thumping bass, but for the size, it is commendable.
Its built-in speakerphone has echo & noise cancellation technology that makes it easy to pick up calls without turning off your speaker.
Cons Related Audio
- The noise cancellation is excellent, but the microphone’s audio levels are still not impressive.
- The audio output of 3 Watt is low compared to other Bluetooth speakers under the same price range.
Design & Build
The JBL Go Bluetooth speaker looks like an oversized matchbox in the shape of a block. It has a built-in strap hook and an optional carrying strap to carry it anywhere.
The JBL Go is among the lightest and ultra-compact Bluetooth speakers, weighing in at just 132g. It is available in 8 vibrant colors, i.e., orange, blue, black, pink, red, light blue, yellow, and grey.
The speaker body is made of plastic with a smooth rubberized coating which enhances the grip and feels good on your hand. There is a prominent JBL logo neatly nestled in the speaker’s grill. On the left side of the JBL Go is a loop to hold it in place.
The product has an IPX5 rating, signifying it can withstand low-pressure water. Furthermore, the product is dust resistant; yet, some dust may pass through, causing no damage to the product. As a result, you can take the device into dirty or wet environments.
Battery
The speaker has a 600 mAh lithium-ion battery that supports 5 hours of playtime on a single charge. Also, remember that increased volume and type of music can affect battery life. The product comes with a micro USB port for charging. It will take approximately 1.5 hours to recharge the speaker using a standard 5W USB charger.
Connectivity & Controls
Since it is a model released back in 2016, it has an old Bluetooth v4.1 chipset, and it offers a stable wireless connection between the devices up to 10 meters. The speaker has an Aux-In slot available that enables you to connect various other media devices to it.
The top portion is where all the controls are laid out, where you will find buttons for playing the next track, volume control, and receiving calls from your speaker with a touch of a button. You can enable Google Assistant or Siri with a long press of the play button.
