Delhi Court Pulls Up Nora Fatehi Over Court Absence

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Monday, 2 November 2026, expressed displeasure after actor Nora Fatehi did not appear as scheduled to testify as a prosecution witness in the Rs 200 crore extortion case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The court issued fresh summons directing her to appear on 6 November 2026.

The original is 1280x1024, clear, sharp and showing Nora Fatehi alone with her face fully visible. It is cropped at the bottom (to 1280x850) solely to exclude the source's small corner logo, which sat outside the subject; the subject herself is not altered, retouched or repositioned. The cropped image is downscaled only to the 1080px page-canvas width and never upscaled. No photograph of any other person is used anywhere in the story. Wikimedia Commons portraits of Nora Fatehi were checked and NOT used: the Bandra 2023 portrait (300x407), the Batla House trailer portrait (429x499), the March 2022 YRF portrait (585x878) and the Dance Deewane Junior 2022 portrait (585x878) are all below HD for a 1080px canvas and would have required upscaling; they were used only as identity cross-checks, and the woman in the Bollywood Hungama portrait is consistent with them. Bollywood Hungama portraits at 1024x768 (2020, 2025) were likewise rejected as below the 1080px canvas width.

Reporting note, stated plainly: Fatehi is a prosecution witness in this case, not an accused, and every allegation about the extortion case is reported as alleged against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and others, not as a finding against Fatehi. The court's observation is quoted only as reported by The Economic Times (PTI/ANI) and ABP Live (ANI). No penalty, fine or arrest was reported on 2 November 2026, and none is claimed here. The two reported accounts of when Fatehi was informed of the summons — Delhi Police told the court notice was served on 22 October, while her counsel said she was informed on 29 October — are both reported as reported; this story does not resolve the difference.

What the court said

“Her Conduct Is Not Up To The Mark,” Court Observed

Fatehi's lawyer sought exemption from her appearance, prompting the court to caution that the proceedings could not be taken lightly. As reported by The Economic Times (PTI/ANI) and ABP Live (ANI), the court observed: “Her conduct is not up to the mark. Don't take the court for granted,” adding, as ABP Live reports, “She is a witness and was supposed to be here.”

An important distinction

Fatehi Is A Witness, Not An Accused

Fatehi has been summoned as a prosecution witness — not as an accused — in the case, Times Now reported on 30 October, citing ANI. She is listed as witness LW-3 in the third supplementary chargesheet; a listed witness becomes a prosecution witness on appearing in court. Nothing in today's hearing makes her an accused in the case.

How the summons came about

Summons Ordered On 16 October For 2 November

In an order dated 16 October 2026, Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep Singh directed that summons be issued to Fatehi for 2 November, The Economic Times and The Times of India reported. The case behind the hearing

The Alleged Rs 200 Crore Extortion Case

The case concerns allegations that Chandrashekhar, while lodged in Delhi's Rohini Jail in 2020-21, impersonated senior government officials and extorted around Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, promising to secure her husband's release from jail. Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing investigated the allegations and filed a chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Questioned By Investigators, Statement Recorded

The Economic Times, citing ANI, reported that the Economic Offences Wing had earlier questioned Fatehi, recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and then named her as a prosecution witness in a supplementary chargesheet. She reportedly told investigators her interaction with Chandrashekhar was through his wife, and was questioned about an event she attended in Chennai in December 2020.
